Welcome to Newmarket Chess Club

(latest update 22nd Janaury 2010)

With a postponed match - now on the 23rd February away vs Linton we are languishing towards the bottom of division 3. However, coincidentally we have an away Roger Goldsmith game vs Linton on Tues 12th January.

This match was a good success especially considering the gradings. Then our latest win against Bury F has left us charging back up the division. We however have two crucial games coming up vs Linton, which may decide whether we can compete for the 2nd place - Stowmarket look too dominant already, or languishing mid to lower table.

We play in the Bury Area league, and meet at the Forester's club on Tuesday Evenings at 7.30pm. We are always looking for more players, as we enter either one or two teams into the league depending on how many active players we have.

The new season starts on the 14th September with a rapidplay Jamboree at Moreton Hall, Bury St. Edmunds. We have entered three teams into competitions this season, in the 3rd division, the Roger Goldsmith Champagne trophy and the Bury League Rapidplay.
